  • In March 2014, Steve became President of the National Association of Plan Advisers (NAPA), the nation's largest retirement plan advocacy group. NAPA is a sister organization to The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) and has over 7,500 nationwide members.
Financial Times created and conducted the survey for the FT 401. Financial Times contacted large U.S. brokerages, independent advisors and other wealth managers to identify qualified applicates on seven broad factors: DC assets under management, growth in DC plans and assets, degree of specialization in the DC business, experience, participation rate in DC plans advised, industry certifications and compliance record.

PlanSponsor created and conducted the survey for PlanSponsor Retirement Plan Adviser of the Year. Award nominations are solicited from advisors, their employers, plan sponsors and working partners (investment vendors, pension administrators, accountants, attorneys, etc.) and evaluated by qualitative factors, including input from clients, and quantitative factors that include the ability to impact plan participation, cost savings and service enhancements. PlanSponsor created and conducted the survey for Top 100 Retirement Plan Advisers. Advisers included in PlanAdviser Top 100 are taken from entries for the PlanSponsor Retirement Plan Adviser of the Year awards, with nominees evaluated solely on quantitative factors submitted during the same process, including ability to impact plan participation, cost savings and service enhancements.

American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA)-Morningstar Leadership Award recognizes financial advisors for contributions that exemplify experience and expertise in the retirement plan industry. The winner and two finalists were selected from 100 nominations by advisors, their employers, plan sponsors and other contributors to the retirement industry. Criteria considered were qualitative and quantitative factors including production and interviews. ASPPA membership was not required and ASPPA staff and management and Board members were ineligible to nominate.

PlanAdviser Hall of Fame inductees include recipients of the PlanSponsor Retirement Plan Adviser of the Year Award, along with other important contributors to the retirement plan industry.

401kWire created and conducted the survey for 401kWire's 50 Most Influential Advisors in Defined Contribution. Award nominees are selected from an on-line survey of retirement plan industry insiders and evaluated with an analysis of objective criteria, including statistics about the advisors’ practices.

The recipient did not pay a fee to participate in any of the surveys listed above. These award may not be representative of any one client’s experience because the rating reflects an average of all, or a sample of all, of the experiences of the advisors’ clients. Receipt of these awards is not indicative of future performance.
