John Wilcox


Vice President, Senior Wealth Manager

John Wilcox, CFP®, AAMS®, AIF®, has dedicated his career as a leader in helping businesses, families and individuals plan for their financial, retirement and investment goals. John joined the Mayflower practice in August of 2010 to help open the Westborough Office, bringing a solid financial services background and more than 20 years of experience in helping to build and preserve wealth for his clients. He also has proven experience in directing companies to manage their retirement plans.

Before his work in wealth management, John spent several years in the Corporate Retirement Plan Market in Communications with Fidelity Investments and as an AVP of Marketing at Scudder Retirement Services leading a team in marketing. There he managed key strategic relationships with Fortune 500 companies and improved their communications and education programs for the plans and their participants.

John served on Blackstone Valley Education Foundation Board, was past President and Board Member of the Worcester Tennis Club and is currently involved on the National Association of Plan Advisors’ Government Action Committee. Additionally, John is a member of Corridor 9 Chambers of Commerce and served as a Director Consultant for Business Networking International (BNI), leading chapters and their growth. He currently serves on the Leadership Team in his BNI Chapter. He is also an avid competitive tennis player (athlete) and a member of the U.S. Professional Tennis Association and U.S. Tennis Association and carries high local, national and international rankings (ITF) from 2014 to current. Consistently he donates tennis lessons to a variety of different charities that are near and dear to him.

MISSION: John’s mission is to assist people who don't have the time, the knowledge, the information or the inclination to manage their money. His clients include business owners, corporate executives, company retirement plans, pre-retirees, high net worth families or retirees.

The Five Star Wealth Manager award, administered by Crescendo Business Services, LLC (dba Five Star Professional), is based on 10 objective criteria: 1. Credentialed as a RIA or a RIA representative; 2. Active as a credentialed professional in the financial services industry for a minimum of 5 years; 3. Favorable regulatory and complaint history review (unfavorable feedback may have been discovered through a check of complaints registered with a regulatory authority or complaints registered through Five Star Professional’s consumer complaint process); 4. Fulfilled firm review based on internal standards; 5. Accepting new clients; 6. One-year client retention rate; 7. Five-year client retention rate; 8. Non-institutional discretionary and/or non-discretionary client assets administered; 9. Number of client households served; 10. Education and professional designations. Wealth managers do not pay a fee to be considered or awarded. Once awarded, wealth managers may purchase additional profile ad space or promotional products. The award methodology does not evaluate the quality of services provided and is not indicative of the winner’s future performance. In 2020, 3,580 Boston wealth manager candidates were considered, of which 463 (13%) were named award recipients. 2018: 2,819 considered, 532 (19%) recognized; 2015: 3,542 considered, 801 (23%) recognized.

The Premier Advisors designation is held by a select group of Financial Advisors within Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network as measured by business production, completion of educational components and professionalism.

401kWire created and conducted the survey for 401kWire's 50 Most Influential Advisors in Defined Contribution. Award nominees are selected from an on-line survey of retirement plan industry insiders and evaluated with an analysis of objective criteria, including statistics about the advisors’ practices.

PlanSponsor created and conducted the survey for Top 100 Retirement Plan Advisers. Advisers included in PlanAdviser Top 100 are taken from entries for the PlanSponsor Retirement Plan Adviser of the Year awards, with nominees evaluated solely on quantitative factors submitted during the same process, including ability to impact plan participation, cost savings and service enhancements.
